About Cleveland Housing Authority (CHA)

The Cleveland Housing Authority (CHA), chartered in 1959 pursuant to the Tennessee Housing Authorities Law, is a public non-profit corporation which carries out public housing and urban development programs as its primary activities. CHA is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor of Cleveland to staggered five-year terms. The Executive Director serves as Secretary to the Board and has responsibility for the administration of the agency, pursuant to Board policy.

CHA is currently planning or pursuing several initiatives including tax credit development, long term strategic planning, unit reconfigurations and modifications and is working toward being the premier affordable housing provider in Bradley County.

CHA provides housing assistance to approximately 640 families each month through the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Programs.

The mission of Cleveland Housing Authority (CHA) is to provide affordable decent, safe, and sanitary housing opportunities to low- and moderate-income families, including elderly and handicapped persons, while supporting programs to foster economic self-sufficiency.
